Community rules
Last updated November 3, 2026.
Wavetrain works because paddlers share honest, useful information. These rules apply to every post, listing, report and reply.
The rules
- No permit selling or transfers. Permit-spot listings are only for open spots on a trip you hold the permit for. Sharing real trip costs is fine; charging to join, reselling or transferring a permit is not, and agency rules prohibit it.
- No harassment. No personal attacks, threats, hate, or targeting anyone for who they are. Disagree about the beta, not the person.
- No unsafe beta. Share conditions honestly and say how current they are. Do not encourage running rivers beyond someone's skill, at dangerous levels, or through closures.
- Gear sales are between members. Describe gear honestly, including damage and repairs. Wavetrain does not handle payment or shipping, so use care and meet in public or use protected payment.
- Keep it real and relevant. No spam, scams, fake listings, or posting the same thing over and over. Businesses may post real jobs and meetups.
- Respect privacy. Do not post anyone's address, phone number or other private details, including your own, outside the contact fields made for it.
- Only post what is yours to share, including photos and trip reports.
Reporting a problem
Signed in, use Report a problem on any thread, reply, trip report, meetup, gear listing, job or permit-spot listing. Reports go to our moderators, not to the person who posted. For anything urgent, or if you cannot sign in, email hello@thewavetrain.com.
What moderators do
We aim to look at every report within 24 hours. Depending on what we find, we may leave the post, remove it, or suspend or close the account behind it. Scams, permit sales, threats and posting private information can lead to removal without a warning. To ask us to look at a decision again, email hello@thewavetrain.com.

Wavetrain is an early build. Flow readings are USGS provisional data and may be revised. Runnable ranges and run details are drafts for paddlers to review. Permit dates and rules come from the agency pages linked on each permit and can change. Snowpack figures come from NRCS SNOTEL stations, are provisional, and are grouped into basins by watershed, so they may differ from official NRCS basin reports. Nothing here replaces scouting, local knowledge or a conversation with a nearby outfitter.
